Corporate Social Responsibility

David Pinder, CEO"Our business is aware of its environmental and social responsibilities and strives to operate in a sustainable and ethical way.

Since we established our UK and Ireland Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) steering committee in 2013, I am delighted to report that we have implemented a number of initiatives across the business that provide a structured approach to CSR and set minimum standards to which we work.

We are continuing to encourage engagement with CSR at all levels, both in the business and with our external partners, to ensure our activities are appropriate, relevant and affordable and that we set targets against which we can measure and publish our progress.

We have made tremendous progress over the past year, and I know that with the support of every employee our company will be a safe, sustainable and ethical place to work and for our supply chain to do business with.

Work placeWe believe that the future success and long term sustainability of Baxi Commercial lies in the quality of our people. We aim to recruit, develop and retain our employees by inspiring and motivating them to reach their full potential. We will provide a safe and secure environment to ensure the health and welfare of our employees.

To support our work place commitment, the business has held health weeks with activities including health checks, fitness activities, and raffles to win prizes for employees. We aim to continually engage with our staff to help us to promote a first class business culture.

The 'Beyond The Call Of Duty' award is held monthly, or quarterly for smaller sites, to recognise the efforts and achievements of employees. Winners are nominated by their colleagues and receive a silver badge and a cash prize. The first Employee of the Year was announced in Spring 2014, Donna Brown, who is based at Baxi Commercial in Erdington.

Baxi's mission, vision and values

Market placeWe are committed to operating an ethical business and quality assured supply chain that delivers exceptional customer satisfaction with class leading products and brand values. To support this, we have distributed our CSR policy statement amongst our market place and we aim to continuously improve our commitment to CSR and communicate all developments to our stakeholders.

We have been working in partnership with Ecovadis, and independent CSR assessment company and Anthesis, a specialist global consultancy company to continually improve our commitment to CSR, customer satisfaction and sustainability. In 2014, our Ecovadis score showed excellent progress for the organisational carbon footprint for all UK sites.

We are proud to report that Baxi Commercial has achieved an ISO 14001 certification for its Environmental Management System (EMS).

EnvironmentWe value our environment and are committed to conservation We aim to identify and minimise carbon emissions, noise pollution, waste, and packaging, in our workplace, products, and throughout our supply chain.

To support our commitment to conserve the environment we have been working with Anthesis, our carbon reduction partner, to identify ways in which our carbon footprint can be reduced through careful measurement and analysis of the carbon emissions within our business, supply chain and products.

We have reviewed how we travel to carry out company business, and have produced a guide to sustainable travel.

CommunityWe are committed to working on appropriate projects with our local communities to improve the society in which we operate. Each site has continued to work with its local charities and communities during 2014, and the whole business came together to man the phones and take donations for Sport Relief.

We pledged to raise £50,000 for Marie Curie during 2014, through a number of fundraising events and activities and we are incredibly proud to have exceeded our target, raising over £68,000 in total.
